1950s/60s Irene Haute Couture ivory silk sari dress with removable cape. This beauty is an absolute show stopper! Beautifully made with so many details. Embroidered with a simple floral motif, each one is about 1" tall. The trim depicts a similar motif with intricate scrollwork.
The skirt is double layered with a pencil skirt beneath and an open over skirt on top. The silk is embroidered with real silver thread that was at one point white, but has since oxidized and created a wonderful multi toned color on the hems, the areas that have been stored away from the air are still white (see pics).
The back has a zip closure and 2 sets of hook and eye closures-1 for the underskirt and 1 to cover the zipper. Dress is lined in matching ivory silk with no embroidery.
This dress has a spot of shattered silk on the front right sleeve (about 1") a few spots of pocked silk (no longer than 1/2- 1/4"), and a little fraying on the square corner of the collar. On the right breast there is a little green discoloration (maybe from the silver thread?) The cape does have a tear on the top near the shoulder, it's hidden and not noticeable when wearing, it will likely need some support to prevent further tearing.
